October's Kerr County COVID-19 death toll hits 10

At least 50 people have died from the virus in Kerr County since Aug. 1

The Texas Department of State Health Service reported the 10th Kerr County death in October — this one coming on the 22nd.

While the statewide numbers have declined, COVID-19 deaths have continued to mount across Texas. The state is still reporting more than 100 deaths per day. More than 16,800 people have died since Aug. 1 from COVID-19.

On Thursday, DSHS reported 76 active infections, while the number of those hospitalized at Peterson Regional Medical Center ticked back up to 10. Statewide, the numbers have fallen to less than 4,000 hospitalized, but more than half of those people are in intensive care units.
