Schreiner University learned its fate on Monday afternoon in the NCAA Division III basketball tournament — they’re off to Mary-Hardin Baylor in Belton.
The Mountaineers (15-13) will play regional host Mary-Hardin Baylor in the first round at 8:20 p.m. on Friday. Schreiner earned an automatic berth into the tournament by marching through the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship last weekend.
At 21-6, Mary-Hardin Baylor was 16-2 in its conference but lost to Hardin-Simmons in the conference tournament. Mary-Hardin Baylor was one of the few non-tournament champions to advance. The winner of Friday’s game could face the University of St. Thomas, which Schreiner beat Saturday, or East Texas Baptist University.
