The Kerrville Independent School District Board of Trustees named Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Superintendent Jarrett Jachade as interim superintendent on Monday.
The board formally accepted the resignation of Mark Foust as superintendent and hired a search firm to begin hiring a new superintendent. Trustees approved Jachade’s appointment with a 6-0 vote, and Trustee Curtis Finley couldn’t attend the meeting.
“The board appreciates Mr. Jachade’s willingness to step up and fill the role of interim superintendent,” KISD Board President Rolinda Schmidt said. “He is a thoughtful and capable leader who will maintain the positive momentum of the school district as we go through the superintendent search process.”
The Houston-based law firm of Thompson and Horton, LLP, will lead the search for the new superintendent. Schmidt told trustees the first phase of the process could take at least three months, and trustees will meet with the firm on Jan. 10 to begin the recruitment.
Thompson and Horton played a role in the last two Kerrville superintendents — it helped recruit former Superintendent Dan Troxel away in 2016 and helped KISD find Foust as his replacement.
Jachade’s role with KISD started in the classroom and eventually led to his promotion to Tivy High School principal in 2012. He moved to the district office in 2017 to become CFO.
“Our goal during this time is to maintain continuity as a district and to continue moving towards excellence in KISD,” Jachade said via a statement. “We have a wonderful staff who truly care about this district and our students.”
