Demauria Miles turned in her best performance of the season for the Schreiner University women’s basketball team with a 26-point effort to lead the Mountaineers to a 75-64 victory over visiting Centenary.

Miles, a first-year guard, erupted for 10 points in the fourth quarter as the Mountaineers rallied from a 38-31 halftime deficit. Miles hit three 3-pointers and was 9-of-21 from the field.
It was Schreiner’s second consecutive victory over Centenary and improved the Mountaineers record to 10-10 overall and 7-4 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Schreiner got another big night from reserve guard Elisa Peralta with 15 points – her third consecutive game with 10 points or more. Peralta has played increasingly more minutes in the stretch run of the season. She played 25 minutes and had four assists and two steals.
Josline Hernandez score 12 points for the Mountaineers and fellow senior Gabby Ivarra added six points and a team-high 12 rebounds.
It wasn’t the prettiest night for the Mountaineers, who shot 32.9% from the field, but the defense continued its relentless pressure by forcing 19 turnovers. Schreiner committed just seven turnovers on the night.
Schreiner plays host to Austin College at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
