Shooting report at Tivy was a threatening note, Kerrville Police respond in force as precaution

A note was found in a bathroom threatening a shooting, but school officials said they do not believe it is credible.

Tivy High School officials uncovered a potential shooting threat Thursday, and Kerrville Police are now investigating.

In a letter to parents, Tivy Principal Shelby Balser said a student in a bathroom found a threatening note. The threat said there would be a 2:35 p.m. shooting.

However, school officials got immediate support from the Kerrville Police Department and school resource officers.

"We are cooperating with the Kerrville Police Department to conduct a thorough investigation and to ensure our students and staff continue to be safe at Tivy High School," Balser said. "We have several additional officers on campus, currently investigating the source of the threat. Although we do not have any reason to believe it is a credible threat, we are taking every precaution and will have up to seven police officers and additional administrators on campus for the remainder of today.''
