Dollie Eckols: July 2, 1950-July 16, 2026

Dollie Meredith Eckols, 76, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026.

Dollie was born on July 2, 1950, in Mexia, Texas, to Cecil and Annie Ruth Meredith. She was raised in Crane, Texas, where she graduated from Crane High School. At the age of 19, she married Eugene “Mike” Eckols in 1969. Together they welcomed two sons and made their home in Odessa, Texas, where they raised their family. After 45 years of marriage, Dollie and Mike divorced in 2014 and each continued on their own path.

Dedicated to serving others, Dollie attended Odessa College, where she earned her nursing degree and became a Registered Nurse. She devoted her career to the mental health field, providing compassionate care to countless patients at a mental health hospital. Her kindness, patience, and caring heart made a lasting impact on those she served.

Faith was the foundation of Dollie’s life. She was a devoted member of Bethany Christian Church in Odessa, Texas, and found great comfort in reading her Bible and living out her strong belief in God. She also had a deep love for animals and cared for her pets as cherished members of her family. One of her greatest joys was traveling to East Texas to spend time with family.

She is survived by her sons, Robert Eckols and wife, Tana, and Jason Eckols and wife, Jennifer; her grandchildren, Bailey Eckols, Jacob Eckols, and Emmaleigh Eckols; and her brother, Gary Meredith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Annie Ruth Meredith; and her brothers, Ronnie Jones and Norman Meredith.

In accordance with Dollie’s wishes, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Dollie’s honor to an animal shelter of your choice, a fitting tribute to her lifelong love and
compassion for animals.
