Fall, Halloween fun for the entire Kerr County family

There are events galore in Kerrville and across Kerr County for the entire family

From a chance to see a live lemur to picking up loads of candy, there's plenty to enjoy when it comes to Halloween-related fun. If Halloween isn't your jam, check out the fall festivals.

Here's our rundown of cool things to see and do — and eat — across Kerrville and Kerr County.

SATURDAY FOR THE FAMILY

The 11th annual Pumpkin Run

The Salvation Army Kroc Center Field, 201 Holdsworth Dr.

7:45 a.m.

Want to run 3.1-miles in a Halloween costume? Well, the Salvation Army is providing the opportunity to do just that. The 5-kilometer run will be held Oct. 30 with a course that starts at The Salvation Army Kroc Center parking lot, running west on Holdsworth Drive before turning around at Harper Road and heading back to the finish line at the Kroc Center parking lot. Register online at www.AthleteGuild.com or visit the Kroc Center at 201 Holdsworth Drive. The last day to register will be at 7:45 a.m. on Oct. 30. Breakfast and coffee will be provided by McDonald's for all runners at the start or end of the race. For more information, please contact (830) 315-5762.

Fall Festival

8 a.m.-9 p.m.

Come out for a family-friendly Fall Festival! There will be so many things to do! We will have a fun Haunted House (not too scary for the littles), face painting, hair painting, games & prizes, food, caramel apples, Caricature artist, petting zoo, crafts, and soooo much more!

No Tricks, Just Treats

Riverside Nature Center

11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Stop by and show off your scary fabulous costumes and receive lots of treats!

The Harvest Festival

The Salvation Army Kroc Center Field, 201 Holdsworth Dr.

11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Featuring a pumpkin patch, pumpkin decorating, hayrides, food trucks, vendor booths, face painting, nine bounce houses and of course, lots of candy. Tickets will be available for purchase. All proceeds will go to fund the many programs of The Salvation Army Social Services and Boys & Girls Club. Families are encouraged to come dressed in their best family, friendly costume. Family Fright Night

Louise Hays Park, Kerrville

4 p.m.

Big ghosts, goblins, and creatures of the night are invited to join us on Saturday, Oct. 30 for our annual “Family Fright Night”, an evening of safe and traditional Halloween fun. The event takes place in Louise Hays Park, 202 Thompson Dr., starting at 4 p.m. “Family Fright Night” is a FREE family-friendly event that offers a costume contest, trick-or-treating, games, bounce houses, music, and more fun festivities! For an added twist to this annual event, at dark we will be showcasing “Hocus Pocus” (PG) as part of our “Movies in the Park” series.

The costume contest registration begins at 4:30 p.m., with judging times as follows:

· 0-4 years – 5 p.m.

· 5-9 years – 5:20 p.m.

· Family/group costumes – 5:40 p.m.

· 10-14 years – 6 p.m.

· 15+ years – 6:20 p.m.

Awards will be given for crowd favorite, most creative, creepiest costume, and more.

Night at the Museum: Creature Feature

Museum of Western Art, 1550 Bandera Highway, Kerrville,

4:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.

This fun-filled, family-oriented event is free and open to the public. Costumes are welcome and encouraged for kids, adults may dress up too. Come and see over 30 different creatures of all shapes and sizes!

Trunk or Treat

Doyle Community Center

5 p.m.

Join us at the Doyle Community Center for a Trunk or Treat. Wear a costume, bring a candy bucket, and be ready for a good time! We'll serve hot dogs and hamburgers for dinner, too!

Hunt School Fall Carnival

Hunt School

5 p.m.

The Hunt School Carnival is BACK!! Bring your family out for an evening of fun, with a silent auction, carnival games, a haunted house, and a raffle. Wristbands for unlimited games — $20. $1 raffle tickets.

Proceeds go directly back into the Hunt School and classrooms.

Night Fest

Kerrville Plaza Apartments

7 p.m.

Community Night Fest! We will be playing Hotel Transylvania out on the Lawn. Bring your Lawn Chair or Blanket. Snacks provided. It will be smore fun.

Halloween Bash! Live music – The Reefs & Costume Contest

Hunt Store

8-11 p.m.

Halloween Bash immediately following the Hunt School Carnival! Live music with The Reefs. Costume contest: 1st place prize $100 gift certificate to Gibsons 2nd place: $50 gift certificate to The Hunt Store.

Hallelujah Night

Faith Christian Church, 1205 Sidney Baker St S, Kerrville

5-8 p.m.

Join us for a Hallelujah Night. Trunk or Treat, Games, Chili cook-off, Candy and more.

SUNDAY

Halloween Drive Thru

Schreiner University

4 p.m.

The Schreiner University Student Government will host a Halloween drive thru on the Schreiner campus. Student organizations, departments local businesses and organizations will set up around the loop to pass out candy and celebrate Halloween. A safe and family friendly alternative to door-to-door trick-or-treating. For more info contact us at 830-792-7278
