Tivy High School reports 23 cases (20 students) in 3 days this week

The Kerrville school has 40 active cases in eight days of instruction

In just eight days of instruction, Tivy High School has 40 positive cases of COVID-19 among teachers and students.

Emails obtained by The Lead from Principal Shelby Balser to parents said 20 students and three staff members had tested positive this week. On Wednesday, six students were positive.

During the 2020-2021 school year, Tivy had 104 students and staff infected by COVID-19. However, the school is now on a pace to surpass that number in the next three weeks. On Monday, 11 students and two teachers tested positive.

After the first week of classes, the Kerrville Independent School District reported 67 cases — a number confirmed Wednesday night by Kerrville Fire Department Chief Eric Maloney.

Last year, KISD had 227 cases between students and staff.
