Kerr County residents will find no shortage of activities this week as more than 70 events fill the community calendar from Monday, March 24 through Sunday, March 30.

The week kicks off with the Monday Night Fiction book club at Schreiner University’s Logan Library, where literary enthusiasts will discuss Barbara Kingsolver’s “The Poisonwood Bible” at 7 p.m.

Wine aficionados can look forward to Wednesday’s educational tasting of Mediterranean and Lebanese wines at Turtle Creek Olives & Vines. The 5:30 p.m. event is free for wine club members and $20 for non-member guests.

Music takes center stage throughout the week, highlighted by Thursday’s Songkeepers Pop Up Song Circle at Trailhead Beer Garden. The free 6:30 p.m. gathering, hosted by Jacobi Caldwell with Konrad Wert, welcomes performers of all ages to share songs in a community-building space.

Theater lovers have multiple options with two productions running Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The Hill Country Arts Foundation presents “Love, Loss, and What I Wore” by Nora and Delia Ephron, while the VK Garage Theater stages Neil Simon’s “Lost in Yonkers.”

Nature enthusiasts can participate in Saturday morning’s Kerrville Walking Group at 8 a.m., explore the Hillside Stewardship Workshop at Riverside Nature Center at 10 a.m., or attend Friday’s “1 on 1 with a Naturalist” session, where Texas Master Naturalists will answer environmental questions.

For families, Saturday offers Family Free Day at the Museum of Western Art from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., while local markets include the Hillside Harvest Market and the Farmers Market, both starting at 10 a.m.

The week concludes with Sunday’s Songkeepers Fiesta Jam at Trailhead Beer Garden at 2 p.m., while several venues feature live music throughout the afternoon.

Recurring events include the American Revolution Experience at Schreiner University Logan Library, running through April 4, and art exhibits at both Hill Country Arts Foundation and Kerr Arts and Cultural Center, offering a glimpse into the region’s artistic talent.

Author

Growing up in Southern California, Louis Amestoy remained connected to Texas as the birthplace of his father and grandfather. Texas was always a presence in the family’s life. Amestoy’s great-grandparents settled in San Antonio, Texas, drawn by the city’s connections to Mexico and the region’s German communities. In 2019, Louis Amestoy saw an opportunity to make a home in Texas. After 30 years of working for corporate media chains, Louis Amestoy saw a chance to establish an independent voice in the Texas Hill Country. He launched The Lead to be that vehicle. With investment from Meta, Amestoy began independently publishing on Aug. 9, 2021. The Amestoys have called Kerrville home since 2019.
