It’s the wildest three weeks on The Lead’s social media channels and shows as we race around Kerr County, attempting to find all of the best Christmas light displays. The Kerrville Public Utility Board sponsors our annual event.

In 2024, we photographed more than 400 homes and aim for that number again this year. Last year, readers viewed photo galleries more than 100,000 times on Facebook.

We’re adding a best business or institution category to our decorating contest this year.

Our rules are simple, we drive by and snap a picture between Dec. 1 and Dec. 19, with the winner being named on The Lead Live on Dec. 23. We don’t accept photo submissions because we want to see the places ourselves. However, if you want us to stop by, let us know.

Users of The Lead’s Facebook Page can vote with a like or love between Dec. 20 and Dec. 22 for the category winners.

Sponsorship Categories

For your sponsorship, you will get your branding in our social media for the category nominations and winning entries. Also you receive mentions on The Lead Live.

Author

Growing up in Southern California, Louis Amestoy remained connected to Texas as the birthplace of his father and grandfather. Texas was always a presence in the family’s life. Amestoy’s great-grandparents settled in San Antonio, Texas, drawn by the city’s connections to Mexico and the region’s German communities. In 2019, Louis Amestoy saw an opportunity to make a home in Texas. After 30 years of working for corporate media chains, Louis Amestoy saw a chance to establish an independent voice in the Texas Hill Country. He launched The Lead to be that vehicle. With investment from Meta, Amestoy began independently publishing on Aug. 9, 2021. The Amestoys have called Kerrville home since 2019.
