College football roundup: Florida continues the Longhorns’ woes on the road, 29-21

Arch Manning sacked six times against Gators; Baylor holds off Kansas State

DJ Lagway threw two touchdown passes and Florida’s defense held Texas scoreless in the fourth quarter as the Gators upset the top-ranked Longhorns 29-21 Saturday.

Dallas Wilson caught both touchdown passes from Lagway, including a 55-yard score in the third quarter and an 11-yard reception with 8:50 remaining. Wilson finished with six receptions for 111 yards.

Lagway completed 21 of 28 passes for 298 yards with one interception for Florida (2-3).

Texas (3-2) led 17-7 at halftime after Arch Manning threw touchdown passes to Ryan Wingo and Garrett Oakley. But the Longhorns managed just a safety and two field goals in the second half as their offense stalled.

Manning finished 16 of 29 for 263 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He was sacked six times by Florida’s defense.

Jadan Baugh rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown for the Gators. Quintrevion Wisner had 11 yards and a touchdown on the ground for Texas.

Michael Taaffe intercepted Manning in the second quarter for the Longhorns’ first turnover.

Baylor edges Kansas State on last-second field goal

WACO — Connor Hawkins kicked a 53-yard field goal with 1:10 left in the game to lift Baylor past Kansas State 35-34 Saturday at McLane Stadium.

The game-winning kick capped a wild fourth quarter that saw four lead changes. Kansas State (2-4, 1-2 Big 12) held a 34-32 advantage after Luis Rodriguez’s 22-yard field goal with 1:48 remaining, but Baylor (4-2, 2-1) drove 28 yards in six plays to set up Hawkins’ heroics.

Michael Trigg set a program record for tight ends with 155 receiving yards on eight catches for the Bears. Sawyer Robertson completed 25 of 39 passes for 345 yards and two touchdowns. Jacob Redding returned an interception 66 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Avery Johnson threw for 339 yards and two touchdowns for the Wildcats. Joe Jackson rushed for 61 yards and Jayce Brown caught four passes for 106 yards and a score.

Temple kicks late field goal to upset UTSA

PHILADELPHIA — Carl Hardin’s 53-yard field goal with 31 seconds left gave Temple a 27-21 victory over UTSA on Saturday.

The Owls (3-2, 1-0 American Athletic Conference) trailed 21-17 before Sawyer Robertson led a six-play, 28-yard drive in the final 1:10. Robertson completed 25 of 39 passes for 345 yards and two touchdowns.

UTSA (2-3, 0-1) lost despite Owen McCown’s 234 passing yards and two touchdowns. Quintrevion Wisner scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 1-yard run with 3:21 remaining.

Bryson Washington rushed for 65 yards for Temple. Jacob Redding returned an interception 66 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
