Kale Lackey added a grand slam in the third inning, capping a six-run frame that put the game out of reach. The Mountaineers pounded out 18 hits against seven Centenary pitchers.

JD Blair provided four hits in five at-bats with three RBI, while Shawn Rivera collected three hits and scored three runs. Every Schreiner starter reached base at least once in the offensive onslaught.

Wyatt Henry earned the victory in relief, pitching 2.2 scoreless innings while allowing four hits and striking out two without issuing a walk.

The three-game sweep marked a dramatic turnaround for Schreiner, which opened the season 0-3 with losses at LaGrange and Huntingdon in Alabama. The Mountaineers outscored Centenary 26-10 over the weekend, winning 4-1 and 6-3 on Friday before Sunday’s rout.

Centenary (2-5, 0-3) received two hits and two runs from Blaine Birkelbach. The Gents scored four runs in the fourth inning to trim the deficit to 13-4, but Schreiner answered with two runs in the sixth and another in the eighth.

Jacob Lukaszewski took the loss for Centenary, surrendering six runs on six hits in just one inning. The Gents used seven pitchers in an attempt to slow Schreiner’s offense.

Schreiner travels to Mary Hardin-Baylor on Tuesday for a non-conference game before opening a three-game SCAC series at Concordia (Texas) on Feb. 20-21.
