We are now at the height of Holiday spirit, and The Lead has two events celebrating the season. The 12 Days of Giftmas, our guide for giving gifts, starts on Dec. 1. On the same, The Lead kicks off its third annual tour of Kerr County’s Christmas Lights sponsored by the Kerrville Public Utility Board.

For the holiday lights tour, we photographed nearly 500 homes, and if you want to ensure your lights and decorating display get noticed, please add your name and address to our list here: https://forms.gle/3RpqpyxsDD5QpDWU6

We also have numerous awards categories in 2023, including The Best of Show. We’ve also got sponsorship opportunities for these categories; some have already been purchased.

We select the category winners by posting them on The Lead’s Facebook page and letting the people decide via likes and loves, but it’s a narrow window to cast your preferences. The category selections go up Dec. 18 and wrap up Dec. 19.

Each category is $125, and we’ll announce the winners on The Lead Live on Dec. 20. The purchase a category: https://square.link/u/tICe58eH

Growing up in Southern California, Louis Amestoy remained connected to Texas as the birthplace of his father and grandfather. Texas was always a presence in the family’s life. Amestoy’s great-grandparents settled in San Antonio, Texas, drawn by the city’s connections to Mexico and the region’s German communities. In 2019, Louis Amestoy saw an opportunity to make a home in Texas. After 30 years of working for corporate media chains, Louis Amestoy saw a chance to establish an independent voice in the Texas Hill Country. He launched The Lead to be that vehicle. With investment from Meta, Amestoy began independently publishing on Aug. 9, 2021. The Amestoys have called Kerrville home since 2019.
