Janie A. Carrasco: April 25, 1946-Dec. 31, 2025

A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, Janie’s life was rooted in love for her family.

Janie A. Carrasco was born on April 25, 1946, in Kerrville, Texas, to Lily and Domingo Aguero. She passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025.

Janie was a woman of deep faith whose love for the Lord guided her life and her relationships. She was known for her open heart and welcoming spirit, often embracing others—friends and strangers alike—with warmth, compassion, and prayer. She never hesitated to take time to listen, offer comfort, and pray with those in need, believing firmly in the power of faith and connection.

A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, Janie’s life was rooted in love for her family. Her strength, kindness, and steadfast faith left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Her legacy lives on through the generations she nurtured and the countless lives she touched through her prayers and acts of care.

Survived by her children: her son, Rosendo Carrasco and his wife, Morgan Jean Carrasco; her daughters, Cynthia Josephine Carrasco Aguilar and her husband, Jose Luis Jr. Aguilar, and Dominga Balero and her husband, Jason Balero. She is also survived by her grandchildren: George Christopher Carrasco; Anthony Juan Michael Garza and his partner, Kyleigh Garza; Phenton Carrasco; Addison Rose Carrasco; and Erik Balero; and by her great-grandchild, Ezra Anthony Garza. Janie is further survived by her sister, Dominga Mowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lily and Domingo Aguero, and by her brother, Albert Aguero.

Service  will be held on January 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Monte Del Olivar Christian Center, located at 2400 Ranch to Market Road East150, Kyle, Texas 78640.

Janie’s memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her, and her faith-filled life will continue to inspire those who carry her memory forward.

Growing up in Southern California, Louis Amestoy remained connected to Texas as the birthplace of his father and grandfather. Texas was always a presence in the family’s life. Amestoy’s great-grandparents settled in San Antonio, Texas, drawn by the city’s connections to Mexico and the region’s German communities. In 2019, Louis Amestoy saw an opportunity to make a home in Texas. After 30 years of working for corporate media chains, Louis Amestoy saw a chance to establish an independent voice in the Texas Hill Country. He launched The Lead to be that vehicle. With investment from Meta, Amestoy began independently publishing on Aug. 9, 2021. The Amestoys have called Kerrville home since 2019.
