Kerrville’s calendar overflows this week with concerts, cook-offs, markets and more

From a Bee Gees tribute at the Cailloux to Pint & Plow’s 10th birthday bash, the week of March 23-29 offers something for almost everyone

If you’re looking for an excuse to get out of the house, Kerr County is not going to let you run out of options this week.

The seven days spanning March 23-29 pack in more than 50 events across the county — music, markets, sports, art, nature, food, comedy and community — a stretch that may be one of the busiest on the local calendar so far this year.

The marquee events fall on Saturday, when Kerrville’s entertainment scene runs at full tilt from morning to midnight.

Pint & Plow turns 10

The headliner of the week for many locals will be the Pint & Plow Brewing Co.’s 10th Anniversary Hobo Gala, a free block party on Clay Street running noon to 8 p.m. Saturday. The all-day celebration includes free live music from Three of a Kind, The Travis Pierce Band and Aaron LaCombe, along with a new beer release, art workshops, and storytelling. The kitchen will be open with the regular menu throughout the day. Those who want a more formal experience can purchase tickets for one of two steak dinner seatings — at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. The event also benefits the neighboring Doyle Community Center. Details and dinner tickets are available at pintandplow.com.

Bee Gees Gold at the Cailloux

Later Saturday evening, the Cailloux Theater hosts Bee Gees Gold, a tribute concert celebrating the music of the iconic disco-era group, at 7:30 p.m. It’s the kind of polished performing arts offering that underscores the Cailloux’s role as the cultural anchor of downtown Kerrville. Tickets are available at caillouxperformingarts.com.

A week of nonstop variety

The sheer breadth of what’s on tap this week defies easy summary.

Thursday alone features a youth beef cook-off at the Hill Country Youth Event Center, a fundraiser art show at Riverhill Country Club for New Hope Counseling, an Elevate Adult Education Poker Walk through downtown, and Not Your Granny’s Bingo at the Arcadia Live Theater — alongside four separate live music performances.

Friday’s live music slate is even longer, with nine performances across venues including Turtle Creek Vineyard, Ridge Rock Amphitheater, the YO Hotel’s Elm Waterhole Saloon and Lazy Days Canteen at Roddy Tree. Schreiner University’s baseball team also hosts Texas Lutheran that afternoon.

Saturday morning brings farmers markets on two fronts — the Hill Country Heritage Farmers Market on Junction Highway and the Heart of the Hills Farmers Market on Water Street — along with a scholarship golf tournament at Scott Schreiner Golf Course, a disc golf tournament at Schreiner University, a water treatment plant tour, Riverside Rangers for junior naturalists, a TREES volunteer training session, and a Family Free Day at the Museum of Western Art.

The weekend closes Sunday with Kayak & Coffee, a supper club at Sovereignty Ranch, live music at Singing Water Vineyards, Turtle Creek Vineyard and Tailchasers, and the Kerrville Love Project at The Color of Clay studio.

All week long

The early part of the week holds its own. Monday brings a Veterans Yoga class at the Kerrville Elks Lodge and a Texas Master Naturalist meeting in Fredericksburg, open to the public, featuring a presentation on white-tailed deer management. Tuesday has Toastmasters, story time at Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library, and Trivia Night at True Texas BBQ. Wednesday features the Friends of the Library Book Sale, a book club discussion of Michael Crichton’s “Eaters of the Dead” at Central Provisions, and an Italian wines education event at Turtle Creek Olives and Vines — plus a meet-and-greet for city council candidate Jeremy Walther at Trailhead Beer Garden.

Running all week, the Guadalupe Groove Mountain Biking Event takes over Kerrville-Schreiner Park on March 28-29, with the park’s hillside area and trails closed to the public from noon Friday through noon Monday. HCAF’s “Hill Country Strong” exhibit, featuring works that benefit flood recovery efforts, continues through April 2.
