Whether you’re coupled up, celebrating with friends or flying solo this Valentine’s Day, Kerr County has something for everyone during a week packed with romance-themed events, live performances and community gatherings.
The festivities kick off with Galentine’s-themed activities Friday and continue through Valentine’s Day weekend with options ranging from paint-and-sip classes to a murder mystery dinner.
The Color of Clay, 314 Earl Garrett St., hosts a Galentine’s Paint & Sip at 7 p.m. Friday, followed by a Valentine’s Paint & Sip at 7 p.m. Saturday. Both events require registration at thecolorofclay.com.

Opening weekend for ‘Sweat’
The VK Garage Theater kicks off its production of “Sweat” on Friday with an opening night performance at 7:30 p.m., preceded by a dinner at 6 p.m. The play continues Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
Written by Lynn Nottage, the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama explores lifelong friendships that fracture under economic pressure in a small Pennsylvania town.
“It gives voice to the struggles of a small-town economy and the dignity of hard work with honesty and empathy,” according to promotional materials from Cailloux Performing Arts. “It invites us to see our neighbors in the characters, sparking conversation about resilience, fairness and what it means to hold a community together in hard times.”

Music scene heats up
Live music fills venues throughout the week, with more than a dozen performances scheduled from Tuesday through Sunday.
Weekend highlights include the Texas Guitar Quartet at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Cailloux Theater, Wilder Blue at 8 p.m. Friday at The Arcadia Live and the Kasberg Jazz Band at 7 p.m. Friday at Elm Waterhole Saloon at the YO Hotel.
Country Nights Open Mic Night returns to Gravity Check Saloon, 2618 Highway 27 East, at 6 p.m. Thursday, while Central Provisions, 210 Clay St., hosts Open Mic with Daniel Robinson at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Community activities abound
Outdoor enthusiasts can participate in the Run for Riverside 5K Run & Walk at 8 a.m. Saturday at Riverside Nature Center, 150 Francisco Lemos St. Registration is available at athleteguild.com.
The Kerrville Walking Group meets at 8 a.m. Saturday for nature walks covering 2-4 miles. Meeting locations are posted at kerrville.xyz.
