Martin Miller: Dec. 21, 1946-Dec. 2, 2025

His favorite moments were those spent with his wife, hunting with his son and time spent with his beloved granddaughter, Kaylee.

Martin Luther Miller, 78, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away on December 2, 2025. He was born in Denton, Texas, on December 21, 1946, to Walter and Mary Miller. Martin grew up in Denton, attending Selwyn School, where he played soccer and served as captain of the high school Football team. He later attended the University of Texas at Austin before graduating from the University of North Texas with a degree in business. Martin was a member of the Bridgeport Country Club.

A skilled and dedicated Master Plumber, Martin spent many years in his trade before beginning his long tenure with Home Depot in both Denton and Kerrville, where he was known as a trusted plumbing specialist and a steady, knowledgeable presence to coworkers and customers alike.

Martin was a man of many interests and talents. He loved hunting, chess, and BBQ, and he was rarely seen without something camo nearby. Over the years, he proudly harvested a few trophy bucks, memories he cherished and shared often. A lifelong fan of the Texas Longhorns and the Dallas Cowboys, he brought passion to every game day. He also had a deep mechanical mind where he was always tinkering and fixing, to come up with solutions to any problem put in front of him. His favorite moments were those spent with his wife, hunting with his son and time spent with his beloved granddaughter, Kaylee.

In 2005, Martin married the love of his life, Rissa, in Las Vegas at the Little White Wedding Chapel. The two first met at the Southlake Home Depot, beginning a partnership marked by humor, loyalty, and deep affection for each other.

Martin is survived by his loving wife, Rissa Miller; his son, Martin Luke Miller, and wife, Courtney; his stepdaughter, Lorilee Burleson, and husband Justin; his stepson, Travis Smith; his sister, Mary Miller; his brother, Stewart Miller; and his grandchildren, Kaylee and Taylor Burleson; and 2 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Miller and Mary Power Miller; and his brothers, John Miller and Patrick Ryan Miller.

Growing up in Southern California, Louis Amestoy remained connected to Texas as the birthplace of his father and grandfather. Texas was always a presence in the family’s life. Amestoy’s great-grandparents settled in San Antonio, Texas, drawn by the city’s connections to Mexico and the region’s German communities. In 2019, Louis Amestoy saw an opportunity to make a home in Texas. After 30 years of working for corporate media chains, Louis Amestoy saw a chance to establish an independent voice in the Texas Hill Country. He launched The Lead to be that vehicle. With investment from Meta, Amestoy began independently publishing on Aug. 9, 2021. The Amestoys have called Kerrville home since 2019.
