New indoor children’s playground proposed for Kerrville
Arrows Active Play Park, a faith-based indoor playground and café, will break ground June 2 at 3250 Sidney Baker N., north of Interstate 10 across from Garden of Memories cemetery.
A new family-oriented indoor recreational facility is coming to Kerrville, with construction set to begin this summer.
Arrows Active Play Park, a faith-based indoor playground and café, will break ground June 2 at 3250 Sidney Baker N., north of Interstate 10 across from Garden of Memories cemetery. The 9,549-square-foot facility represents a $1.2 million investment in family entertainment for the Kerrville area.
The project, registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, is scheduled for completion in February 2026.
Katrina and Will Ansell, who already operate a successful Arrows Active Play Park in Boerne, are behind the Kerrville expansion. Their existing 8,000-square-foot Boerne location features a three-story playground structure with slides, a warrior course, zip racers, a ball blast area and specialized spaces for toddlers.
“My heart is for these mamas,” Katrina Ansell said of her vision for the business, according to information provided by the developer. “I would love Arrows to be a place they feel supported, accepted and united with others who are in the same season of life.”
The Ansells’ approach combines active play for children with comfortable spaces where parents can relax or socialize. Will Ansell emphasizes safety as a cornerstone of their business model.
“Providing a safe and secure environment for the families of our community to enjoy their time together is of utmost importance to me,” he said, as stated in promotional materials for the project.
The Boerne location caters to children ages 6 months to 12 years old, with a dedicated toddler area for those 3 and under. It includes amenities such as a café serving sandwiches, baked goods and specialty coffee, plus free Wi-Fi. The facility is allergy-friendly and nut-free.
The business model draws inspiration from Psalms 127:3-5, which refers to children as “arrows in the hands of a warrior.” This scripture forms the foundation of the Ansells’ mission to serve families and provide both active entertainment for children and a refreshing atmosphere for parents.
For the Kerrville location, construction will include a one-story metal frame structure with mezzanine, plus parking, site drainage, walks, a septic system, retention walls and minimal landscaping. A separate permit is required from TxDOT for highway access.
