A significant challenge involves the loss of office space, as Light on the Hill became a hub for flood recovery efforts. The organization actively seeks new volunteers, particularly English and math instructors for GED preparation and more ESL instructors.

Kohte expressed concern about “donor fatigue” and the flood’s potential impact on student participation and volunteer recruitment for all nonprofits. Volunteers and funding remain the organization’s biggest challenges.
