Peterson Health ranked among top 20 rural hospitals in the nation

The Kerrville hospital will be formally recognized May 21 at NRHA’s Annual Rural Health Conference in San Diego.

Peterson Health has been named one of the 20 highest-performing rural and community hospitals in the country by the National Rural Health Association, the only Texas hospital to earn the distinction.

“This recognition is a testament to the dedication, compassion, and clinical excellence of our entire team,” said Mary Liz Eastland, chair of Peterson’s board of directors. “This achievement confirms our mission and inspires us to continue innovating to provide exceptional care for every patient we serve.”

The ranking is based on an evaluation by the Chartis Center for Rural Health using its Rural Hospital Performance INDEX, which scores hospitals across eight categories: inpatient and outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge and finance.

The Kerrville hospital will be formally recognized May 21 at NRHA’s Annual Rural Health Conference in San Diego.

“Being the only one in Texas makes it even more special,” said John McDonald, Peterson Health president and CEO, “and it honors the vision that Hal and Charlie Peterson had when establishing this hospital in 1949.”
