Photo gallery: Peterson Middle School’s stained-glass masterpiece gets a proper re-dedication

“I’m really happy to here and I want to thank KISD for allowing this to happen,” Rukhin said.

Lev Rukhin wanted to blame the microphone for the cracks in his voice Tuesday evening at Hal Peterson Middle School, but there was no denying his voice was betrayed by the moment’s emotion.

For Rukhin, the trip to Kerrville from his home in Los Angeles was more than a homecoming; it was a powerful reminder of his connection to this place and the majestic artistic aspirations of his late sister.

“I’m really happy to here and I want to thank KISD for allowing this to happen,” Rukhin said.

On Tuesday, Kerrville Independent School District re-dedicated the work of Masha Rukhina’s massive stained glass window that once adorned the library at the former Sidney Baker Street location of Tivy High School and later Hal Peterson Middle School.
