The Mountaineers topped visiting Trinity 84-81 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

On Tuesday night, the Schreiner University men’s basketball team learned a vital lesson: they can defeat Trinity University even if standout forward Camden Ross has an off night offensively.

Thanks to a final, driving layup by senior guard Dylan Mackey with three seconds left, the Mountaineers topped visiting Trinity 84-81 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener for both teams. The victory snapped Schreiner’s six-game regular-season losing streak to the visiting Tigers.
