Playhouse 2000 Production scores high marks at Texas Theater Competition

The production also earned Outstanding Ensemble Acting and Backstage awards, while securing Alternate status to the upcoming Regional Festival.

VICTORIA, Texas — Playhouse 2000’s production of Sean Grennan’s “A Rock Sails By” earned multiple awards at the Texas State Finals of the One-Act-Play competition last week.

The theater group captured the Audience Acclaim Award as the crowd favorite at the event hosted by Theatre Network of Texas and the American Association of Community Theatre.

Cast members Jane L. Sansom and Amy Goodyear received All Star Cast recognition for their roles as “the Messenger” and “Dr. Lynn Cummings,” respectively. Irec Hargrove won Outstanding Actor in a Supporting Role for his portrayal of “Jason Harper.”

The production also earned Outstanding Ensemble Acting and Backstage awards, while securing Alternate status to the upcoming Regional Festival.

Baytown Little Theater’s “Tuesdays With Morrie” and Brazosport Center Stages’ “Zoo Story” will represent Texas at the Regional Festival in New Mexico next month.

Theater officials say no public performances of “A Rock Sails By” are currently scheduled due to venue limitations.
