Pot O’Hot, economic summit highlight busy week in Kerr County
Trailhead Beer Garden hosts Pot O’Hot on Saturday from noon to 8 p.m., bringing together hot soup, cold beer and live music.
The third annual Pot O’Hot Fest headlines a packed week of community events in Kerr County, with a full calendar stretching from Monday’s Texas Master Naturalist lecture to Sunday’s wedding expo at The Arcadia Live.
Trailhead Beer Garden hosts Pot O’Hot on Saturday from noon to 8 p.m., bringing together hot soup, cold beer and live music for what has become one of the area’s signature late-winter gatherings. This year’s musical lineup features Simon Flory, Jonivan Jones and Matthew Payne performing throughout the day. Tickets are available at trailheadbeergarden.com.
The Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce hosts its ninth annual Hill Country Economic Summit on Thursday at the Hill Country Youth Event Center from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The program includes a community update from city leadership, a tourism economic impact panel, a long-term flood recovery update featuring representatives from Kerr Together and the Upper Guadalupe River Authority, and a keynote on artificial intelligence from Certified Speaking Professional Glen Guyton. The Symphony of the Hills takes the Cailloux Theater stage Thursday at 7 p.m. for “A Time to Dazzle,” featuring Gurwitz Silver Medal pianist Tatiana Dorokhova performing Prokofiev’s Third Piano Concerto. The Russian-born pianist, who won the Audience Favorite Award at the Gurwitz International Piano Competition, describes the concerto as “incredibly energetic, bold, and full of imagination.” Also on the program are Joan Tower’s Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman No. 6 and Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. A wine reception for ticket holders begins at 6 p.m., with a Hill Country Youth Orchestra string ensemble performing in the lobby. Schreiner University’s PopCon returns for its ninth year Saturday and Sunday in the CCAC, offering a free weekend of gaming, comics and pop culture for the campus and broader community. The event runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Highlights include a cosplay costume contest Saturday at 11 a.m., an escape room running both days on a first-come, first-served basis, and gaming tournaments including a Smash Brothers tournament sponsored by HCTC and a Call of Duty tournament sponsored by the Kerr County Veteran Service Office. A Table Top Arena, sponsored by Heart of the Cards Kerrville, will offer space for board games and card enthusiasts. Attendance is free.
Friday evening brings the Hill Country Strong reception at the Hill Country Arts Foundation from 4 to 7 p.m. All items in the show are donated, with proceeds supporting flood recovery efforts.
The weekend also features the Hill Country Swap Meet and Kerr County Market Days both Saturday and Sunday at the Hill Country Youth Events Center from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Texas Gun & Knife Show at the same venue both days, and two farmers markets Saturday morning — the Hill Country Heritage Farmers Market at 301 Junction Hwy and the Heart of the Hills Farmers Market at 741 Water St., both running 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Jigglewatts Burlesque Revue brings its award-winning show to Lazy Days Canteen at Roddy Tree on Saturday at 8 p.m. The Austin-based troupe, founded in 2006, is the longest continuously running burlesque company in the United States and a two-time winner of the Austin Chronicle’s Best Burlesque/Cabaret Show award. The Arcadia Live hosts Not Your Granny’s Bingo on Thursday at 7 p.m. and the Event & Wedding Expo on Sunday at 2 p.m.
