Protest set for Saturday at Kerr County Courthouse
“Love Has No Border” serves as the rally’s central message, accompanied by the hashtag #keepfamiliestogether.
A rally supporting immigrant rights will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kerr County Courthouse, with organizers focusing on constitutional protections and family unity.
The demonstration aims to highlight that constitutional guarantees of due process and equal protection apply to all people regardless of immigration status. Organizers are advocating for immigrants to have their rights respected, families to remain together, and individuals to be allowed to await their court dates while in the United States.
“Love Has No Border” serves as the rally’s central message, accompanied by the hashtag #keepfamiliestogether. The event’s promotional materials emphasize creating safe communities for immigrants and encourage attendees to “raise your voice for those too afraid to speak out.”
The organizers incorporate a biblical reference from Matthew 25:35: “I was a stranger and you welcomed me in,” underlining their message of welcome and inclusion.
The rally comes amid new developments in U.S. immigration policy. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Tuesday that Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele has offered to accept deportees of any nationality from the U.S., as well as violent U.S. citizens currently serving prison sentences. Speaking in Costa Rica, Rubio called it “a very generous offer” but noted it would require further study due to constitutional and legal considerations.
