The Mountaineers (15-5, 8-3 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) built a nine-point halftime advantage and weathered several second-half rallies from the Pirates (2-19) to secure the victory. Schreiner controlled the game for nearly 39% of playing time but had to fend off nine lead changes.

Dylan Mackey and CJ Ward each contributed 11 points for Schreiner, with Ward adding four assists. Dylan Snow provided a spark off the bench with eight points, including two 3-pointers.

For Southwestern, Shobby Enakpene led all scorers with 19 points on efficient 7-of-11 shooting. Jared Robins added 17 points, including five 3-pointers, while Luke Hatcher chipped in seven points and three blocks.

The game turned into a tale of two halves, with Schreiner shooting 48.5% in the first period before cooling to 34.5% in the second. The Mountaineers struggled from beyond the arc all night, converting just 16.7% (4-of-24) of their 3-point attempts.

Southwestern staged a second-half comeback behind improved shooting, hitting 41.4% from the field and 33.3% from 3-point range after the break. However, Schreiner’s defense proved crucial down the stretch, forcing 19 Pirate turnovers.

The game remained tight in the final minutes, but clutch free throws from Ross and Beau Cervantes helped seal the victory for Schreiner. The Mountaineers finished 15-of-21 from the free-throw line, while Southwestern went 14-of-19.

Schreiner’s bench outscored Southwestern’s reserves 14-15, with Mario Johnson providing seven points and six rebounds in just nine minutes of action.

The win marks Schreiner’s third straight victory as they prepare to face Texas Lutheran on Saturday. Southwestern will look to snap their losing streak when they return to action next week.
