Schreiner men fall behind early, fall to Austin College, 91-79

Dylan Mackey scores a game-high 31 points to lead the Mountaineers but it’s not enough to stop visiting Austin College.

Schreiner University’s season of disappointment continued Friday night with a 91-79 loss to visiting Austin College — a team the Mountaineers routed by 16 in a previous meeting.

The Mountaineers fell even with a stellar effort by Dylan Mackey, who scored a season-high 31 points on a brilliant night of shooting. However, the Mountaineers fell behind early to Austin and never recovered.

Schreiner has now lost three consecutive games and is sinking in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference standings at 4-9. Austin improved to 4-10 in the SCAC and 9-14 overall. Schreiner is 10-12 overall.
