Schreiner President Dr. Charlie McCormick praised the appointment.
Schreiner University appointed Dr. Russell Frohardt as provost and vice president for academic affairs Monday. He will assume the role March 17.
Frohardt brings more than 20 years of academic leadership experience to the position. He previously served as interim vice president for academic success at Northwest Vista College in San Antonio, where he led initiatives to improve student pathways, retention and workforce readiness.
Before joining Northwest Vista, Frohardt was a professor of psychology and behavioral neuroscience at St. Edward’s University in Austin, where he also served as dean of behavioral and social sciences.
Schreiner President Dr. Charlie McCormick praised the appointment.
“The provost position is at the center of all our missional activities to grow and educate students,” McCormick said. “I am delighted that we have identified Dr. Russ Frohardt as the individual with the experience, expertise and capacity to move Schreiner University to the next level of excellence.”
As an American Council on Education Fellow, Frohardt collaborated with leaders at Vassar College to develop academic administration best practices. His accomplishments include launching bachelor’s and dual enrollment programs, securing multimillion-dollar grants and enhancing institutional accreditation efforts.
“I am honored to join Schreiner University at such a transformative time,” Frohardt said. “Schreiner’s deep commitment to student success and its vision for the future make this an exciting opportunity.”
In his new role, Frohardt will focus on implementing key aspects of the university’s Schreiner 2030 Strategic Plan, including improving student retention and graduation rates, expanding academic partnerships in healthcare, technology and aviation, developing innovative programs aligned with workforce needs, and strengthening faculty engagement and student research opportunities.
