In the opener, Abigail Sliman delivered the decisive blow with a triple in the bottom of the seventh inning that scored Breyanna Jones for the walk-off victory. The hit capped a back-and-forth contest that saw Schreiner battle back from a 4-1 deficit.

Anyssia Mendoza earned the win with three flawless innings of relief, striking out five while allowing no hits or runs. The strong pitching performance helped overcome five Schreiner errors.

Austin College appeared poised for their first win of the season after a four-run third inning highlighted by Hailie Swiatkowski’s home run, Tori Fowler’s RBI triple, and Reagan Brinkley’s RBI double. The Kangaroos built a 4-1 lead before Schreiner began chipping away.

The Mountaineers responded with two runs in the fourth inning and tied the game in the fifth when Riley Jamison drew a bases-loaded walk to force in Kourtney Hurry with the tying run. That set the stage for Sliman’s heroics in the seventh.

In the second game, Schreiner’s offense exploded for six runs in the fifth inning, breaking open what had been a tight 2-1 contest. The Mountaineers added three more runs in the sixth to secure the run-rule victory.

Isabella Gutierrez earned the win, allowing just two runs on six hits over five innings while striking out four.

Multiple Mountaineers contributed offensively in the nightcap, with Brinley Smith driving in three runs, while Gracie Rue and Kourtney Hurry each added two RBIs. Elizabeth Garcia went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two stolen bases.

Austin College’s lone bright spot in the second game came in the fifth inning when Chyrsi Hemby singled to drive in Jadyn Myers, briefly giving the Kangaroos a 2-1 lead.

The three-game sweep gives Schreiner momentum heading into next week’s conference matchups.
