Schreiner enters the series looking to build on momentum gained from its recent road trip to Southwestern, where the team won two of three games. The Mountaineers defeated the Pirates 6-0 in the opener and followed with a 16-6 victory in six innings before dropping the finale 9-7.

Junior Anyssia Mendoza leads the Schreiner offense with a .362 batting average and has been a bright spot on the mound as well, posting a team-best 6-7 record with 74 strikeouts in 74.2 innings pitched.

Freshman Brinley Smith (.337) and Breyanna Jones (.333) have also been offensive standouts for the Mountaineers this season. Jones leads the team with 17 stolen bases, while Smith has driven in 16 runs.

Despite a challenging season that has included 19 road losses, Schreiner has been more competitive at home with a 5-10 record at Mountaineer Field.

The weekend marks the final collegiate games for seniors Kourtney Hurry, Mikenzie Miller, Madison Beck, Isabella Gutierrez and Bayleigh Borden.
