“I’m incredibly excited,” Zwernemann said. “This coaching opportunity to join Schreiner University offers me the chance to build something special from the ground up, where we collaborate across campus to help our athletes reach their fullest potential. Bringing football back to a community rich in history, and doing so with a coaching staff that boasts a legacy of consistent winning, is a dream come true.”

Allen emphasized the deliberate search for the right candidate to lead the offensive line.

“We were very specific in what we were looking for in an Offensive Line Coach,” Allen said. “We wanted someone who is technically sound, has a passion for helping others, high energy, relates well with student-athletes, and is always looking for ways to get better. Cody marks all the boxes.”

Zwernemann comes to Kerrville from Cypress Woods High School in Texas, where his offensive line unit was instrumental in the program’s best-ever start. Under his direction, the team topped its district in total offense and passing, while surrendering only six sacks over 11 games. He also coached at Giddings High School, where his lines consistently excelled in both pass protection and run blocking schemes.

His collegiate experience includes key roles at Houston Christian University, where he contributed to the nation’s top-ranked passing offense in 2020. Zwernemann also coached at Southwestern University, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and Sam Houston State University, refining his skills in game planning, recruiting and team cohesion.

Zwernemann will relocate to Kerrville with his wife, Kim, and their children, Collins and Lawson.

Schreiner University, founded in 1923, is a private, Presbyterian institution located in the Texas Hill Country. Known as the Hill Country’s university, Schreiner is launching its football program with a focus on comprehensive student-athlete development.
