Schreiner women fall late on the road to Hendrix, 1-0

CONWAY, Ark. — Sarah Jones scored in the 88th minute to lift Hendrix to a 1-0 victory over Schreiner in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play Friday night at Warrior Soccer Field.

Jones, assisted by Samantha Barrett, broke through the Mountaineers’ defense late in the second half for the game’s only goal at the 87:48 mark.

Hendrix dominated possession and offensive opportunities throughout the match, outshooting Schreiner 12-1, including a 5-0 advantage in shots on goal. The Warriors’ attack pressured the Mountaineers’ defense all evening, with Reese Roleson, Sofia Fennelly and Ava Puente each registering multiple shot attempts.

The Mountaineers’ lone shot came from midfielder Abby De Hoyos. Schreiner held a slight edge in corner kicks, 5-4, but could not convert the set-piece opportunities into scoring chances.

Schreiner (3-6-0, 2-3-0 SCAC) returns home to face Ozarks on Sunday at noon. Hendrix (4-5-2, 2-2-0 SCAC) improved to 1-0-0 in conference home matches.
