Schreiner’s third consecutive victory improved the Mountaineers to 15-9 overall and 11-4 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

The game opened up tight, with both teams trading leads in the first quarter, which finished in a 17-17 tie. With 4:10 left in the first half, Josline Hernandez and Miles hit 3-pointers to give the Mountaineers a nine-point 35-26 lead. The Mountaineers continued their onslaught through the end of the second quarter to take a 40-30 lead at halftime.

Schreiner further separated from the visiting Pirates in the third quarter, with 14 of Schreiner’s 23 points coming from the backup trio of Skye Thomas, Tianna Murray and Parham. The Mountaineers’ defense limited the Pirates to 17.6% shooting in the third quarter.
