Voter registration cards delayed in Kerr County due to redistricting dispute

Kerr County voters who have not received new voter registration cards should expect continued delays due to legal challenges over redrawn congressional district maps, election officials said.

The Texas Secretary of State’s Office notified counties that redistricting litigation has prevented the timely assignment of precincts and printing of registration cards.

“Due to legal challenges of the redistricted congressional maps, counties were delayed in being able to assign precincts and print cards in the usual time frame,” according to a statement from Secretary of State Jane Nelson’s office.

Kerr County Tax Assessor-Collector and Voter Registrar Bob Reeves said his office is awaiting final approval from the Secretary of State’s Office before mailing cards to local voters.

The delay will not affect voters’ ability to cast ballots, Reeves said.

“You do not need to present your card at the polls,” Reeves said. “Just be sure to bring your driver’s license or other identification to your polling location.”
