Schreiner women force turnovers, win second consecutive SCAC game
Schreiner seized control early, opening a 14-4 lead after one quarter and extending the advantage to 26-15 at halftime. The Mountaineers dominated the second half, outscoring Centenary 38-17 over the final two quarters.
Schreiner forced 24 turnovers and held Centenary (La.) to 27.7% shooting in a 64-32 victory Saturday night, giving the Mountaineers their first two-game winning streak of the season.
The Mountaineers (3-10) overwhelmed the Ladies with pressure defense, recording 14 steals — seven by Bell Martinez — to build a 32-point victory before 175 fans at Stephens Family Arena.
Four Schreiner players scored nine or more points, led by Brie Sosa’s 12 points on four 3-pointers. Aylene Ortega added nine points on 4-of-5 shooting off the bench, while Nevaeh Gray contributed nine points and Lynnashia Brooks added nine points and eight rebounds.

Martinez finished with eight points, three rebounds and two assists to complement her seven steals. JayDee Zamora added three points and two assists for Schreiner, which outrebounded the Ladies 45-36.
Savannah Stowers led Centenary with eight points on 3-of-6 shooting. Julissa Cabrera added seven points and three assists, while Kyra Stokes contributed five points and six rebounds.
The victory gives Schreiner back-to-back wins for the first time this season after defeating LeTourneau 70-57 on Thursday.
