From early morning coffee gatherings to evening performances, Kerr County residents have dozens of opportunities this week to connect with neighbors, explore nature and enjoy local entertainment.
The week kicks off Monday with Free Coffee Mondays at the Hunt Preservation Society starting at 7 a.m., where Hill Country CCP invites residents to gather for coffee and conversation throughout January. Later that morning at 9:30 a.m., Kerrville Schreiner Park will host a bird blind ribbon cutting followed by a nature hike.
Veterans can participate in free yoga sessions at 3 p.m. every Monday at the Kerrville Elks Lodge, led by Rick Trzcinski of the Veterans Yoga Project. The day wraps up with Monday Mingle at Turtle Creek Vineyard from 3 to 6 p.m., featuring music by Matthew Butler.
Tuesday brings the Hill Country Chapter of Texas Democratic Women meeting at 11:15 a.m. at 125 Lehman Drive, with guest speaker Jonathan Letz. The meeting is open to everyone. Those interested should RSVP to treasurer4hcctdw@gmail.com.
The Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library hosts multiple programs Tuesday, including Lap-Sit Story Time at 10 a.m. for children age 3 and under, and the Great Decisions Discussion Group at noon. Evening options include a grief support group at Peterson Hospice & Home Care Building at 5:30 p.m. and live music from Heartbreak Outlaws at Gravity Check Saloon starting at 6 p.m.
Wednesday features the Wildflower Bunch at Riverside Nature Center at 10 a.m., where participants can learn about native wildflowers. Registration is available through the center’s website. The library continues its programming with Story Time at 10 a.m. and a Friends of the Library Book Sale from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Wine enthusiasts can attend Wild West Wine Wednesday at the Museum of Western Art from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., featuring tastings from Turtle Creek Vineyard. The free event includes a presentation on museum activities. Film buffs can catch “Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid” at The Arcadia Live at 7 p.m.
Thursday morning brings Duplo Club at 10 a.m. and Sprouts nature story time for preschoolers at 10:30 a.m. at Riverside Nature Center. The library’s Readers Mix Book Club meets at noon to discuss “Encyclopaedia of Faeries” by Heather Fawcett.
The Texas Outdoors Woman Network holds its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. at Riverside Nature Center, connecting women with similar outdoor interests. Other Thursday evening options include a social gathering at The Rogue Skein at 4 p.m., a stroke support group at 4:30 p.m. at Peterson Hospice & Home Care Building, and Country Nights Open Mic Night at Gravity Check Saloon at 6 p.m.
Friday features Tech Help Friday at the library at 3 p.m., followed by Schreiner University basketball doubleheaders against LeTourneau. The men’s team tips off at 5:30 p.m., with the women’s game following at 7:30 p.m.
Live music Friday night includes performances by Stan Morris at Cafe at the Ridge, David Selbo at Truffles & Vines, both starting at 6 p.m., and James Keith & The Q-Tips at Lazy Days Canteen at Roddy Tree at 8 p.m. Karaoke begins at Gravity Check Saloon at 7 p.m.
Theater returns to Kerrville with “Rabbit Hole” opening Friday at 7:30 p.m. at VK Garage Theater. The Yellow Lab Production explores themes of loss and forgiveness following tragedy. The show is rated PG-13 for sexual content, language and mature themes. Performances continue Saturday.
Saturday morning starts early with the Kerrville Walking Group at 8 a.m., offering 2- to 4-mile nature walks. Meeting locations vary and are posted at www.kerrville.xyz. Two farmers markets open at 9 a.m.: Hill Country Heritage Farmers Market at 301 Junction Highway and Heart of the Hills Farmers Market at the 741 Water St. parking lot. Both run until 1 p.m.
Crafters have multiple Saturday workshop options at The Rogue Skein, including circular loom weaving and frame loom designs at 9:30 a.m., granny square class at 11 a.m. and beginner weaving at 1:30 p.m. The Color of Clay hosts a gnome workshop from 10 a.m. to noon.
The library’s Saturday programming features Gardening 101: Herbs at 10:30 a.m., the Friends book sale from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and a Kerrville Genealogy Society workshop at 3:30 p.m.
Nature programming continues with a journaling talk at River Oaks Courts in Medina at 11 a.m. in the Art House Cafe. Riverside Nature Center hosts a Friends Celebration from 4 to 6 p.m. with food and music. RSVPs are requested through the center’s website.
Wine lovers can attend an Old Vine Petite Sirah vertical tasting at Bending Branch Winery at 2 p.m. The Kerr County Democrats host a Meet the Candidates event at Roddy Tree Ranch from 3 to 6 p.m.
Saturday’s live music lineup includes Dave Kemp at Singing Water Vineyards at 1 p.m., Steve Garry at Turtle Creek Vineyard at 3 p.m., and evening performances by Lee Winright at Trailhead Beer Garden and Jim Turner at Cafe at the Ridge, both at 6 p.m.
The week concludes Sunday with Schreiner University basketball hosting Centenary. The men play at noon, followed by the women at 2 p.m. Live music wraps up the weekend with Shane Stumpf at Gravity Check Saloon at 1 p.m. and Kay O’Neill at Turtle Creek Vineyard at 3 p.m.
