The Kathleen C. Cailloux City Center for the Performing Arts is preparing to reopen with two major events this fall after a construction closure that began in March.
Grammy Award-winning country and Americana artist Suzy Bogguss will perform Saturday, Sept. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in “An Evening with Suzy Bogguss” to help celebrate the theater’s reopening. Reserved seating ranges from $25 to $45.
The theater will also present Ballet Frontier’s production of “The Nutcracker Ballet” on Thursday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m. The family-friendly presentation is sponsored by H-E-B and Playhouse 2000, with adult tickets priced from $25 to $48 and children’s and student tickets from $8 to $17.
Bogguss, known for hits including “Outbound Plane,” “Aces” and “Someday Soon,” moves between country, swing, jazz, folk, Americana and roots styles. Her records have achieved gold status and she has millions of online followers.
The theater is offering a limited-time discount of $5 per ticket for newsletter subscribers through Saturday, July 5, using the coupon code “REOPENING” when calling the box office at (830) 896-9393 or purchasing online at CaillouxPerformingArts.com. The discount applies to up to two adult tickets per show.
Season Preview Party Scheduled
The annual Preview Party for the SouthStar Bank Cailloux Performances will take place Sunday, July 20, at 3 p.m. in the VK Garage Theater. The free event will feature refreshments and a 40-minute presentation announcing six artists and events for the 2025-26 season.
The upcoming season will include classical sounds, a celebration of a country icon, an international exhibition, Broadway selections, a tribute to rock legends and dance traditions, according to the theater.
Season passes offering savings up to 15% compared to single ticket prices will be available for purchase at the preview party. Seating is prioritized by application date and donation status.
Free tickets to the preview party are required due to limited seating and can be obtained by visiting the temporary box office in the VK Garage Theater lobby or calling (830) 896-9393. Online reservations are available at CaillouxPerformingArts.com with a $2.50 convenience fee per ticket.
Single tickets for the six-event season will go on sale Monday, Sept. 1, at 10 a.m.
Fundraising Campaign Continues
Playhouse 2000, which manages the facility for the city of Kerrville, is conducting a “Supplemental Gift Drive” to offset revenue losses during the construction closure. The organization estimates losing up to $50,000 in typical summer earnings due to the theater being closed.
The temporary box office is located in the VK Garage Theater lobby at 305 Washington St., directly behind the Cailloux Theater. Hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
The theater warns patrons to purchase tickets only through authorized outlets, noting it cannot be responsible for tickets bought through third-party resellers.
