Fundraiser kicks off to replace courthouse Christmas tree
The Kerrville Christmas Lighting Corporation is raising $125,000 to install a new 50-foot LED tree that would maintain the city’s claim as home to the tallest Christmas tree in the Texas Hill Country.
The Kerr County Courthouse’s 45-foot Christmas tree — a holiday fixture for 13 years — has been retired due to wear and persistent lighting problems, leaving the potential for a bare courthouse lawn this December.
The Kerrville Christmas Lighting Corporation is raising $125,000 to install a new 50-foot LED tree that would maintain the city’s claim as home to the tallest Christmas tree in the Texas Hill Country.
The proposed replacement would feature nearly 37,000 warm white LED lights and upgraded 120-volt power for improved reliability. A $50,000 matching grant will double donations.
“We don’t want to imagine a Christmas without a tree at the courthouse,” said George Eychner, corporation president. “With the community’s help, we can make sure this cherished tradition continues — brighter and taller than ever.”
Sponsorships start at $100. Tax-deductible donations can be made to the Kerrville Christmas Lighting Corporation at P.O. Box 293213, Kerrville, Texas 78029, or at Texas Hill Country Bank.
More information is available at kerrvillechristmaslighting.com or by calling Eychner at 830-370-1663.
