On Saturday, flood survivors will receive assistance at a clothing event hosted by the Heart of cabi Foundation at Citywest Church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is designed for women who lost personal clothing in the floods.

The week also features the return of regular community programming, including farmers markets Saturday morning, library events throughout the week, and live music performances at venues across the county.

The Hill Country Archeological Association will meet Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Riverside Nature Center, where Mark McBride will present “Hill Country Archeology – Before and After the Flood: New Discoveries and Recovery at Crying Woman Ranch.”

Friday’s Greens of Gratitude Golf Invitational at Scott Schreiner Golf Course will honor first responders, medical teams, and volunteers who assisted during the flood response. The 8 a.m. tournament is sponsored by Happy State Bank and Ford Philanthropy, with honored guests playing at no charge.

Author

Growing up in Southern California, Louis Amestoy remained connected to Texas as the birthplace of his father and grandfather. Texas was always a presence in the family’s life. Amestoy’s great-grandparents settled in San Antonio, Texas, drawn by the city’s connections to Mexico and the region’s German communities. In 2019, Louis Amestoy saw an opportunity to make a home in Texas. After 30 years of working for corporate media chains, Louis Amestoy saw a chance to establish an independent voice in the Texas Hill Country. He launched The Lead to be that vehicle. With investment from Meta, Amestoy began independently publishing on Aug. 9, 2021. The Amestoys have called Kerrville home since 2019.
