The recently ordained minister arrived in Kerrville in early July and has been adjusting to her new role at the church at 321 Thompson Drive.

“Katie has been going non-stop since she arrived in Kerrville in early July,” said the Rev. David E. Payne, senior pastor. “So the August sermon series will be an excellent opportunity for her to introduce herself to the KFUMC family and for us to get to know her better.”

Toalson will preach at all three Sunday services — 8:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. traditional worship services and the 9:30 a.m. contemporary service — on Aug. 3, 10, 17 and 24.

The Hondo native followed an unconventional path to the pulpit. She graduated from Texas A&M University in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in bioenvironmental sciences before answering the call to ministry. She earned a master of divinity degree from Duke Divinity School in 2021.

Before joining the Kerrville church, Toalson served as pastor of First United Methodist Church in Devine. At KFUMC, her responsibilities include preaching, teaching and overseeing youth and young adult ministries.

She joins Payne and the Rev. Monica O’Donnell, associate pastor, on the church’s pastoral team.
