Peterson Regional Medical Center President and CEO Cory Edmondson said the patient was a 34-year-old man and that he was able to break the tempered glass before falling to a courtyard off the hospital’s main entrance. The man was taken to a hospital in San Antonio, but the state of his injuries is unknown.

“We are concerned for the patient and his family,” Edmondson said in a statement. “We pray and wish the best for them.”

Edmondson said the incident happened around 2 p.m. and that the hospital was cooperating with police.

It’s the second violent incident involving a patient at Peterson Regional Medical Center in the last year. In 2022, a patient allegedly tried to strangle a nurse before being subdued.
