Playhouse 2000’s “Fiddler on the Roof” opens to standing ovations
Performances continue Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday matinees Aug. 2 and 9 at 2:30 p.m., at the Cailloux Theater, 910 Main St. Tickets are $24 to $28 for adults and $15 for children and students, available at the door or in advance at the Cailloux Box Office, by phone at 830-896-9393, or online at CaillouxPerformingArts.com, where a $2.50-per-ticket convenience fee applies.
Playhouse 2000, Kerrville’s community theater, opened its run of “Fiddler on the Roof” at the Cailloux Theater last weekend to standing ovations, with six performances remaining between July 31 and Aug. 9.
Opening weekend audiences praised the cast, live orchestra, and scenic and costume designs. The show’s “bottle dance” is performed by Annabelle Burzynski, Nora Hughes, GlannAlise Saunier and Alexandra Webb. River Wellborn and Robert Gonzalez star as Tzeitel and Motel, Lilyann Cox and Brad Gilbert as Hodel and Perchik, and Jane Sansom-Brown and Jeffrey Brown as Golde and Tevye, alongside a 35-member volunteer ensemble.

The show stars married couple Jeffrey Brown and Jane L. Sansom-Brown as Tevye and Golde, leading a cast of 35 local volunteer singers and dancers under director Heather Cunningham, music director Alexis Korbe, choreographer Ambra Harrah and stage manager Kerri Sparkman. Brown is also Playhouse 2000’s executive director, a post he’s held for 15 years.

The marquee event of the week is the opening night of “Fiddler on the Roof” at the Cailloux Theater on Friday at 7:30 p.m., with a preshow dinner available at 6 p.m. The production runs a second performance Saturday, also at 7:30 p.m.
