Pot O’ Hot returns to Schreiner University on Feb. 22
The festival features four free live music performances, Shim’s Food Truck serving burgers, and block printing demonstrations by Schreiner University’s Communication Design Department.
Simmering soups and savory aromas will fill the Hill Country air as Trailhead Beer Garden presents its second annual Pot O’ Hot Fest Feb. 22 from noon to 8 p.m.
“The intent is an original and creative celebration of food and beverage makers in Kerrville’s special winter season,” Trailhead owner Jeremy Walther says.
The festival features four free live music performances, Shim’s Food Truck serving burgers, and block printing demonstrations by Schreiner University’s Communication Design Department.
“Last year was a blast, and our design students have been talking about this event all semester,” Schreiner Graphic Design professor Clay McClure says. “We’ll sell blank canvas tote bags with artist designs printed while you watch.”
Building on last year’s success, organizers increased Soup Taster tickets from 150 to 250. The event adds a second cup rinse station and beer tent, sponsored by Altstadt Brewing, to enhance the experience.
“The majority of Soup Makers from last year signed up again, with some new faces too,” Walther says. “It’s a great group – into their craft and sharing it with their neighbors.”
Twenty-five contestants compete for a $1,000 prize purse. A 12-judge panel, including returning judge Ingram ISD Superintendent Bobby Templeton, Sheriff Larry Leitha and Fredericksburg City Councilwoman Emily Kirchner, determines the top three soups.
“Last year was too fun, I couldn’t miss a chance to do it again,” Templeton says.
Soup Taster tickets cost $30 each, $50 for a pair or $100 for five. Each taster receives a custom soup cup, 3-ounce samples of all soups and two voting cards for the Tasters Choice awards.
Garrett Insurance and HCTC join Altstadt Brewing as event sponsors.
