Schreiner University reports record enrollment, with 33% bump in first-year students
The university attributes the growth partly to new program offerings, including a football program launching in fall 2026 and a drum and bugle corps that began this year.
Schreiner University enrolled a record 1,470 students this fall, marking an 11% increase from the previous year and the largest incoming freshman class in the institution’s 102-year history.
The private Presbyterian university’s first-time freshman class grew 33% to 434 students, according to data released Thursday by the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness. Undergraduate enrollment reached 1,302 students, a 12% increase, while graduate enrollment remained steady at 168 students.
“Our enrollment momentum is a testament to the personalized, purpose-driven experience Schreiner offers,” said Alan Liebrecht, vice president for enrollment services. “Families are seeking value, community, and career-ready programs, and they are finding all three at Schreiner.”
The university attributes the growth partly to new program offerings, including a football program launching in fall 2026 and a drum and bugle corps that began this year. The football program has already attracted interest from prospective student-athletes nationwide, officials said.
University President Charlie McCormick said the enrollment surge reflects the institution’s commitment to student success.
“Schreiner’s growth reflects more than just impressive numbers,” McCormick said. “It speaks to our commitment to helping students enter with hope and leave with achievement.”
The enrollment figures support goals outlined in Schreiner 2030, the university’s strategic plan to reach 2,030 students by decade’s end. The institution continues expanding academic programs in high-demand fields including nursing, business, education, aviation and engineering.
Founded in 1923, Schreiner University sits in Kerrville in the Texas Hill Country. The university serves students from across Texas and beyond with programs designed to prepare graduates for careers and civic engagement.Retry
