"Our defense did an outstanding job of dominating the game," Schreiner head coach Keith Allen said. "We were able to get five takeaways, a defensive touchdown and a safety—all while shutting them out."
Schreiner dropped to 21-6 overall and 12-3 in SCAC play, while Colorado College improved to 18-7 and 10-4 in the conference.
The Mountaineers (2-10-2, 1-3-1 SCAC) scored twice in the final 23 minutes to cut a three-goal deficit to one, but couldn't find the equalizer against the Warriors (3-7-2, 2-2-1).
Schreiner goalkeeper Emilie Novasad kept her team in the contest with four saves, including two in each half. Hendrix goalkeeper Kennedy Lewis faced minimal pressure and did not need to make a save while earning the shutout victory.
The Mountaineers (15-3, 7-0 SCAC) won 25-22, 16-25, 25-23, 17-25, 15-11 before a crowd of 122 at El Pomar Sports Center.
The loss dropped the Mountaineers to 3-5-0 overall and 2-2-0 in conference play, while Austin improved to 4-4-1 and 1-3-0.
Haley Withers extended the lead to 3-0 in the 43rd minute with assistance from Sarada Farneti, sending Schreiner into halftime with a commanding margin.
Cameron Armer led the offensive surge with two goals in the first half.
Schreiner will continue conference play Sunday when it hosts Centenary (La.) at 2 p.m. at Mountaineer Soccer Field.
