The episode featured guests Julie Davis of the Kerrville Convention and Visitors Bureau, Janelle Peralt of JP Properties, and Doug Hetzler, General Manager of Gibson’s Discount Center.

Discussions also covered recent governmental meetings, including the Kerrville City Council meeting, which addressed employee concerns over health insurance, property tax increases, city financial sustainability, and flood-related expenses. The Commissioners Court meeting focused on a flood warning system, the controversial draining of Lake Ingram, and the local economic situation.

Additionally, the show addressed Gov. Greg Abbott’s upcoming visit for a Small Business Recovery Fair, offering zero-interest loans and flood recovery resources. The current real estate market, noting softening rates and increased online home search traffic, was also a significant topic, alongside the potential impact of developments like Whiskey Springs.

The perceived impact of the recent flood on Kerrville’s tourism was clarified, with guests emphasizing that while targeted areas were devastated, the city was not “gone” as some media suggested. The future of river camps in light of new legislation (SB1) and concerns about rebuilding in flood plains were also discussed. Local amenities and ideas for new attractions, such as a racetrack or a bowling alley with an arcade, rounded out the conversation.
