Cox had fled on foot shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday following a reported assault on a juvenile at a residence in the 2800 block of Goat Creek Road. A witness reported he was armed with at least one firearm and was wearing a ballistic vest and a gun belt loaded with multiple magazines.

As of Friday afternoon, deputies and investigators were continuing to search the area for the firearm and body armor with assistance from a Texas Department of Criminal Justice scent-specific K-9 unit from the Torres Unit. Kerrville Police Department, TDCJ Office of Inspector General and U.S. Customs and Border Protection aircraft were also assisting or en route.

Cox was undergoing a medical evaluation and was expected to be booked into the Kerr County Jail. A warrant for assault by strangulation was issued by Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace J.R. Hoyne.

Kerrville EMS treated the juvenile at the scene Thursday night.
