Michael Sieverson Jr.: March 1, 1941-May 16, 2026

Michael Bernard Sieverson Jr., age 85, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026.

Michael was born on March 1, 1941, in Chicago to Michael Sieverson Sr. and Katherine Sieverson. He lived a life marked by service, education, compassion, and an enduring curiosity about the world around him.

Michael proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years before beginning his professional career. Following his military service, he dedicated himself to higher education, attending many universities throughout his life in pursuit of knowledge and personal growth. His commitment to learning led him to earn a PhD, as well as certifications as an LCDC (Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor) and CART counselor.

Michael devoted much of his career to helping others through his work as a chemical dependency counselor. From 1997 to 2006, he worked at La Hacienda Treatment Center, where he made a meaningful impact on the lives of many individuals and families through his guidance, compassion, and dedication to recovery.

Outside of his career, Michael was a devoted fan of NASCAR and hockey and greatly enjoyed watching races and games whenever he could. He loved learning new things and never lost his appreciation for thoughtful conversation and exchanging ideas with others. He also enjoyed fishing, working with his hands, and spending time with family and friends. Those who knew him will remember his wisdom, his practical nature, and the genuine interest he showed in people and the world around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael Sieverson Sr. and Katherine Sieverson; his son, Doug; his sister, Margaret; his brother, Peter; and his stepson, Craig Bishop.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Carol Sieverson; his son, Ryan (Angelique) Sieverson; his daughter, Kathleen Norris; his sisters, Nancy and Mary; his stepsons, Jeff (Annie) and Matt (Carolyn); and his cherished grandchildren, Ariel (Oscar), Victoria (Zach), Danielle, Hannah, Madison (Josh), Dylan (Lydie), Emily, Jackson, and Brady.

Michael’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His life was one of service, perseverance, kindness, and lifelong learning, and he leaves behind a legacy that will not be forgotten.

A visitation will be held at Grimes Funeral Chapels on Monday, June 1, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., with funeral services beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Center Point Cemetery.
