Kerrville man faces 25 new child pornography counts; week’s arrests included 7 DWI bookings

Glen Daniel Rhoten was booked into the Kerr County Main Jail on Friday, May 23, on 25 counts of possession of child pornography involving 50 or more depictions or videos per count.

A Kerrville man arrested last fall on a child pornography charge now faces 25 additional counts after a months-long investigation, leading a week in which the Kerr County Jail logged roughly 38 bookings — including seven arrests on drunken driving charges.

Glen Daniel Rhoten was booked into the Kerr County Main Jail on Friday, May 23, on 25 counts of possession of child pornography involving 50 or more depictions or videos per count. The Kerr County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the new charges stem from Rhoten’s October 2024 arrest, in which he faced a single count of possession of child pornography. Bond on the new charges was set by a judge at $10,000 per count — $250,000 total.

Each of the 25 counts is a second-degree felony under Texas law, carrying two to 20 years in prison per count.

The expansion of charges following an initial arrest is consistent with the timeline of digital forensic examinations, which routinely take months after devices are seized.

A busy week in the jail

Beyond the Rhoten arrest, the week’s bookings reflected a recurring theme in Kerr County: drunken driving. Seven people were booked on DWI-related charges between May 19 and May 24, including one person whose bond was revoked on a DWI 3rd or more conviction and another arrested on a DWI with a blood-alcohol level at or above 0.15.

Other notable bookings included a May 21 arrest involving outstanding charges from three separate jurisdictions — Missouri, New Mexico, and Johnson County — on allegations including theft, identity theft, and forgery; a May 20 arrest on a charge of manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance with a $75,000 bond; and a May 24 booking on charges of terroristic threat against a peace officer or judge, family violence assault, and resisting arrest.
