Funeral for James Edwards set for June 17 at Notre Dame Catholic Church
He taught English in South Korea and Spanish at Schreiner University. Edwards was an artist, singer and musician whose work was displayed at River’s Edge Gallery. He traveled frequently to Mexico.
James Adham Edwards, 41, died May 28 at his home in Kerrville.
Edwards was born May 19, 1984, in Bolivar, Missouri. He graduated from Tivy High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Schreiner University and a Master of Arts in Spanish literature from Texas State University-San Marcos.
He taught English in South Korea and Spanish at Schreiner University. Edwards was an artist, singer and musician whose work was displayed at River’s Edge Gallery. He traveled frequently to Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his brother, David Bruce Edwards; his father, James Frank Edwards; his uncle, Gonzalo Arellano; and his aunt, Lety Cooper.
Survivors include his mother, Jessica Edwards of Kerrville; his grandmother, Teresa Cortez of Kerrville; aunts Angela Williams of St. Louis, Missouri, Conchi Gurola of Kerrville and Sandra Barefoot of Kerrville; and cousins Karla Samson, Teresa Josephine Williams, Jessica Reyes, Sarita Limon, Gonzalito Arellano and Melody Schiaffino.
A funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. June 17 at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 909 Main St. A celebration of life will follow at 1 p.m. at Wright’s Funeral Parlor, 1913 Junction Highway.
